Purpose of the Board of Trustees
The purpose of the Board of Trustees is to allow for
elected representatives of all owner/members to set forth and
administer policies and procedures and to make managerial decisions
affecting the operation and maintenance of Association business and all
commonly held real property.
The members of the Board of Trustee are recognized by the State of Ohio
as officers of the Corporation (Marina Homeowners Association) and have
the authority to enter into contractual obligations, carry out and
enforce all provisions of the Declaration, Articles of Incorporation
and By-Laws.
Some of the Responsibilities of Your Board of Trustees
• Establish the policies and regulations that govern the Association.
• Approve the Operating Budget and all expenditures made by the Association.
• Set the amount of the annual assessment.
• Maintain the common areas and structures located on common property.
• Keep a complete record of corporate affairs and report to the Homeowners.
Duties of Officers:
President
The President shall preside at all meetings of the Board of
trustees, shall see that orders and resolutions of the Board are
carried out, and shall act as Chief Executive Officer. The
President runs the Annual Meeting as well as the Board Meetings
throughout the year. Typical responsibilities include:
co-signing on the Marina checking account, oversight for projects (pool
interior resurfacing, auditing, insurance, etc.), working with county
officials, and responding to questions or concerns from the
homeowners.
Vice President
The Vice President shall act in the place of the President in the event
of his absence. This position requires only a small amount
of your time each month.
Secretary
The Secretary shall record the votes and keep the minutes of all
meetings, serve notice of meetings of the Board and the Members, serve
notice of meetings of the Board and Members; keep appropriate current
records showing the members of the Association together with their
addresses, and shall perform such other duties as required by the
Board.
Treasurer
The Treasurer shall receive and deposit in appropriate bank or savings
and loan accounts all monies of the Association and shall disburse such
funds as directed by resolution of the Board of Trustees. This
position files appropriate tax returns, keeps proper books of accounts,
causes an annual audit of the Association books at the completion of
each fiscal year; and shall prepare an annual budget and a statement of
income and expenditures to be presented to members at its regular
Annual Meeting, and deliver a copy of each to the Members.
Social Chairperson
The Social Chairperson shall have the responsibility for maintaining
up-to-date procedures for: annual social planning meeting and
activities management, management of social budget, street captains,
newsletter editor, homeowner’s handbook.
